How CombiPatch® Works
CombiPatch has three layers and steadily releases continuous amounts of both estrogen and progestin through your skin. You place CombiPatch on your lower abdomen and change it twice per week, based on your own dosing schedule.
Innovative Technology
CombiPatch was created using the patented Delivery Optimized Thermodynamics (DOT) Matrix® delivery system. DOT Matrix® technology allows a continuous release of hormones to your skin and goes directly into your bloodstream. This helps to treat moderate to severe hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness associated with menopause—all in the smallest combination hormone therapy (HT) patch available.
Effective Combination Hormone Therapy
CombiPatch provides effective hormone levels with smaller daily doses as compared to oral therapy. This does not mean that CombiPatch is safer or more effective than hormone therapy pills. When taken orally, estrogen has to first pass through the stomach and then be metabolized by the liver before reaching the bloodstream. During this process, a lot of estrogen is broken down and destroyed. So in order for your body to receive enough estrogen to relieve your symptoms, the dose in a pill has to be higher than the dose used in a transdermal patch, which avoids the liver by delivering hormones directly to your bloodstream. CombiPatch provides a continuous release of hormones to your skin and goes directly into your bloodstream. That means you can get effective symptom relief with a smaller daily dose of hormones than with HT pills. And its innovative DOT Matrix technology makes CombiPatch the smallest patch of its kind.
CombiPatch achieves estrogen levels in your blood similar to what you would see in the early phase of your usual menstrual cycle during your premenopausal years. These levels are achieved within 12 to 24 hours after applying CombiPatch.
